I can’t believe it but my little baby girl is potty training right now. I have so many mixed feelings about it all!
I am so glad that she is healthy enough to be potty trained, but it has just gone by way too fast. Seems like I was just bringing her home from the hospital last week.
Well, I have read and watched so many things about potty training because I wanted to do it right. Of course, all of my well meaning friends give me great advice on what to do and not to do!
I started about 6 months ago, buying a potty and letting her get use to seeing it, letting her get used to watching me go to the bathroom, and talking to her about it and what it all means.
I started potty training her 5 days ago and since that time, she has had about 25 accidents and has used the potty by herself about 12 times.
For the first 2 days, I put panties on her, but it seemed like every time I did that, she peed in them. We went through 8 pair of panties the first day. Of course it was a good thing that I had already bought a couple of packs of panties in preparation for this or else that Honeywell Barcode scanner would be very busy!
I bought pull-ups for night time use and when we go out, but I am not entirely convinced that I will be using them much at all. To her, they feel like a diaper and so she feels like she can pee in it.
The only thing that really seems to be helping is to put a long t-shirt on her and let her run around being naked from waist down. A lot of the time, I don’t even ask her if she needs to go, she will just come and tell me that she went. But we have still had a few accidents even with this method.
One of the main things she is struggling with is going #2 in the potty. She has no problem squatting down and letting it go, but put her on the potty, that is a different story all together. Even when she had diapers, she would find a corner, squat down, and use #2. I am going to have to figure something out on this one.
Overall, I think she is doing pretty well. I will be so happy when the Potty Wars are completely over. I know that could be a long wait, but I am hopeful!

Tags: bathroom floor hole, fix a hole, stainless steel tiles, to do list
I can’t keep going on like this. I have got to get someone out to my house and have my floor fixed.
I am talking about my bathroom floor. It started out as a very small hole and now it has grown to be a real BIG problem. I am seriously thinking that the best, most durable flooring that I could put in there that would withstand the abuse from my kids would be stainless steel tiles.
The original floor was not that great to start with. Now you mix that with kids that don’t like to keep the shower curtain pulled shut when they are taking a shower and well, you end up with a weak floor.
Then you have your oldest child step out of the shower in a hurry and BAM!!! His foot goes straight through the floor. Ugh! I guess you may have been able to pick up that I am not a very happy person with this.
Now don’t get me wrong, I know accidents happen, but it is irritating with the ‘accident’ could have been very much avoided!
Oh well! Just one more thing that is on the ‘To Do’ list now that needs to be fixed.

Well, my son just turned 14. Boy oh boy, have the hormones come crashing in! Aliens have offically taken over my son!
I have heard horror stories of when kids hit their teenage years, but no story ever prepares you for real life!
He no longer wants mom’s opinion or help with anything anymore. He has all of the answers even before the question has even been asked. Like when he asked me about his acne. I suggested an acne cure, but nope, wasn’t what he had in mind, so of course, he didn’t listen. Oh well! I guess when he gets tired of the zits, he’ll listen. (hee hee)
I know that this is the ‘critical’ time when he goes from childhood to manhood, but my goodness, I wish it didn’t have to be so dang difficult.
He is not all bad mind you. When he is with his baby sister, he has a heart of gold. You can see how much he loves her. That may be a little strange, especially for a 14 year old boy, but it is sweet to see how gentle, soft, and loving he is with her.
It gives me hope though. At least I know that some of my sweet son stills resides in there somewhere!

I guess I am finally going to break down and give in to the never ending pleas from my daughter to get a cat.
We already have a little dog that my sister brought with her from NC when she came to visit recently. He is a Poodle and Chihuahua mixed. He is cute and sweet, but I am not a real big dog person. But my kids love him so he is now part of the family.
You see, before we got the dog, my friend’s cat had kittens and I promised her that I would take one of them off of her hands.
When I was younger, I had a solid black kitten that I loved with all of my heart. She got hit by a car when she was 3 years old. Of course, I was devastated.
As you may have guessed, my friend’s little kitten that I want is solid black. Now I am sure some of you are thinking that that is bad luck, but I am not superstitious, so it really doesn’t matter to me.
I will go and pick her up this week. I have to go and get all of the necessary cat supplies needed. I haven’t decided yet if she will be an indoor or an outdoor cat. I will just have to see how well behaved she is.

My dear son is going through the dreaded hormone stage. He will be 14 in a couple of weeks. It has been coming on for quite a while now but it has really hit hard and heavy over this summer.
He is about 5′10″ and wears size 12 shoe. He looks like he is about 16 or 17. He has got the whole acne thing going on and so we have started looking at different acne treatment cream that would help with his little acne problem.
He is a bit self-conscience about it, but I personally don’t think that it is bad at all. He wants to get it cleaned up because as most teenage boys at this time, he is noticing the girls now. UGGH!
He already wants to drive and get a job. I am here thinking, man slow down! You have plenty of time for all of that, but just like I was when I was his age, we are all in a hurry to grow up and try our own wings.
Seems like just the other day, he was toddling around and was my little boy that needed his mom for everything. Boy, they grow up too fast!
