Cleaning Up

The time of year is here for Spring cleaning. One of the most wonderful ways that I have recently discovered to clean up and clean out, is consignment sales.

It is an outlet that was introduced to me last Fall. The great things about it is that not only do you get rid of stuff that you no longer need but you make a little money in the process.

Consignment sales are a lot like yard sales except you don’t have all the work of setting it up. The only thing you do for the consignment sale is put a tag on your items, drop them off, wait a few days, and then pick up any items that didn’t sale and a check for the items that did sale.

As I am going through all of the things that I need to get rid of, I am looking at items that I am going to have to replace very soon. One of the items I have realized that needs replacing is some of my office furniture, mainly speaking of my office chair. I have had it for a couple of years and the fabric is getting frayed and completely worn out.

That will just have to be one of the things that I replace once I get everything cleaned up and get rid of all the old things. That is one of the really great things about cleaning out old stuff, it makes room for all of the wonderful new things that you can purchase with the money that you make from the old.

Missions

Help the needy Pictures, Images and PhotosThere are all kinds of opportunities for missions.   I have several friends who go on short-term mission trips to places like Honduras, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Brazil to name a few…   If flying is an obstacle then there are plenty of mission opportunities right in your back yard!

For example,  if you see a widow or single mother who need their yard cut,  or maybe a deck that needs rebuilding, you would be amazed at what joy these simple tasks can bring.

Maybe there are homeless shelters or soup kitchens in your town that would love to have another helper.   Perhaps you could be a mentor to a troubled teen or provide someone a ride to a support group for alcoholics or drug rehab.

I guess what it boils down to is this, if you have a heart to help there are so many people in need and you don’t have to look to hard and you could be a tremendous blessing in someones life.

Make a difference today, one person at a time….

Do Clothes Make a Man Sexy?

men in suits Pictures, Images and Photos For the first time ever, I watched a James Bond movie. Yes, it is true, I have never watched a Bond movie before.

As I was sitting there watching Bond, I got to thinking to myself at how much sexier he looked in his tuxedo and tuxedo shirts rather than in just the regular shirts.

So what makes a man look sexier in certain clothes over other clothes?

I think it has a lot to do with body type. Think about it. If a guy has a huge beer belly, you certainly don’t  want to see him wearing a tight white t-shirt. Oh no, that just wouldn’t do. For guys like this, a nice polo type shirt works or anything that isn’t too tight.

For the older gentlemen, a nice button up shirt with a tie…well, that’s sexy. For the younger guys, dress nice. Don’t wear clothes that are 2 sizes too small or jeans that are 10 sizes to big. Women don’t find that attractive at all.

But, young or old, big or small, I think just about any man in a tuxedo looks good. This is a classic case of the clothes make the man!

A couple of hints to you guys out there. ‘Wife-beater’ shirts, cut offs, and see through shirts are out of style and look horrible on just about anyone no matter what body type or age!

Word to the wise!

flowering trees Pictures, Images and PhotosWell, you gotta love these beautiful days that we have been having lately. Between 65-72 degrees each day. Sorry if you aren’t experiencing these.

It makes me very thankful for the warm weather especially after having all of the cold weather we recently had.

I am sorry to all of you who is still suffering through freezing cold conditions, snow, and ice. That is one of the reasons I love the south. Our winters aren’t too terrible but they are cold enough to make you enjoy when Spring finally gets here.

Spring is my favorite season. I love the newness of everything. The fresh grass, budding trees, and the fresh smell that is in the air. (flowering cherry trees are just one of my favorites.)

Of course, the weather is perfect for me. Not too cold, not too hot. Just right. You can open the windows and let all of that wonderful Springtime smells fill your home and it makes me feel like I am waking up from a long winter’s nap.

What is your favorite season and why?

broke tv Pictures, Images and PhotosWell, it is official. My TV is broken. I have no clue as to what happened to it, but it will not turn on.

One day it was working just fine, and  then the next thing I know…BAM! No picture, no sound, no power, NOTHING!

I would throw it out because I already have another, but the thing is, it is a really nice one that I paid a lot for at the time that it was purchased. Yeah, I know, it isn’t worth much now. But still!

I talked with a friend of mine about it and he said that he thought it was the power transformer that had gone out in it. SO I have debated whether or not to see if I can find the part for it and see if I can fix it myself.

I mean, come on. Isn’t that a lot better to try and fix it rather than just chunking it. And besides the TV stand goes perfect with it. I don’t want to get rid of either.

I guess the biggest thing is, I am in denial. Let me tell you, that TV is an extremely heavy sucker and it would probably do me well to get rid of it once and for all instead of trying to move that thing.

Oh well, call me crazy. I may look into seeing if I can fix it. Who knows? It may work!
