I wanted to share with you where ‘My Cornerstone Trio’ comes from and how it was that I came up with the name.
The word ‘cornerstone’ dates back to the 13th century. The following definition comes from the Webster’s dictionary.
1: a stone forming a part of a corner or angle in a wall; specifically : such a stone laid at a formal ceremony 2: a basic element : foundation <a cornerstone of foreign policy>
In the old days when folks built stone houses, they would find the largest, most sturdiest stone, and that would be used as the ‘cornerstone’ to help hold the entire house together. If they didn’t get a large cornerstone, then the house would be subject to falling down.
So, trio is for my three kids, and cornerstone is for me. Cool, huh!

I woke up this morning to get ready to run out and do some errands. I got the baby ready, bundled up, and headed out to the truck. I got her all buckled in and came around to get in. Following my normal ritual, I put the key in to start the truck and NOTHING!!! It wouldn’t start.
Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. I called over to my neighbors for a jump, thinking it was just the battery that was dead. He was unable to help me with my truck but told me to come use his car instead. Awesome!!! (yes, there are still good neighbors out there)
The baby and I walked over to get his car. I got her all buckled in and we left. I didn’t get back home until late so he told me to just keep the car.
The next morning he came over and we tried to jump it off. No luck. We then put it on the trickle charger to let the battery build up a charge. We waited 4 hours and tried again. Still no luck. I took the battery out and took it to Auto Zone. They tested the battery and said the battery was good. I was thinking, ‘Oh great, now it is going to cost me even more money to get it fixed’, thinking it was the starter or alternator. I bought a battery terminal bolt and some corrosion grease due to the fact that one of my bolts seemed loose. By the time I got home, it was dark and raining. So I had to wait.
I woke up to rain the next morning. More waiting. It finally stopped and I went out to install the battery and new bolt praying that that would fix my problem. I put it all back together, got behind the wheel, put the key in, silently saying a prayer for the truck to start.
I turned the key, and wahla, it started. Talk about your miracles. I went from thinking it was a battery that would have cost about $100, to a starter or alternator that would have run over $300 to fix.
The total cost of my repair… $4.43. It was a loose connection and a stripped out battery bolt causing the problem. Whew!
